Our Concept

Welcome to KOAL Restaurant!

You are welcome to join us at 7:00pm  at our beautiful historic location at Steenweg 19 in downtown Oranjestad. We are proud and excited to be operating our Chef’s Table Restaurant in the Monumental old ‘Botica’ and ‘El Mercado’ building.

The first part of your evening will be spent in our comfortable and relaxing courtyard, first round of bubbles is on us!

Around 7:30pm you will be invited inside to start your culinary journey with us in our open kitchen setting, where Chef Albert will be cooking a delicious 5 course meal, right in front of you!

Our Table serves a maximum of 16 guests per night.

An evening of delicious food, fun and wine! Sit back, relax, meet new people and let Albert & Tom take care of the rest!

The Team at KOAL

KOAL is a 2-man operation:

Albert Raven, a native Aruban, recently returned to Aruba after leading elite culinary teams in the Netherlands, Germany, USA and the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai). 

He draws inspiration from all cuisines and passionately fuses local and international flavors.

Tom Rensen, a Dutch born F&B specialist with many years of experience in hospitality, both in Aruba and abroad.  For the past 5 years he used his experience to great acclaim in the (front of house), running of Aruba's number 1 restaurant according to TripAdvisor.

Albert and Tom met through a mutual acquaintance. 

Bundling their passion and experience together, they can’t wait to welcome you to their exciting Chef’s Table restaurant - KOAL.

KOAL General Info

Our location:

We are located at Steenweg 19 in downtown Oranjestad. Parking in the street might be challenging, and we advise you to make use of a taxi, it's an easy drop off right in front of our door.

Business hours:

We are open 5 (five) nights per week - Monday to Friday and we open our doors at 7.00pm. Dinner starts at 7.30pm and dessert is served around 10.00pm. You are welcome to join us for a glass of wine in our courtyard after dinner!

Our pricing:

5-course menu, set price for the food is $125,- per person.

Our wine pairing is offered as an extra and is sold by the glass. Since we are a small operation, we are not able to offer a full bar/cocktail menu, but we do have a limited selection of mixed drinks and beer available. 

Payment: Cash and all major credit cards, except American Express, are accepted.

KOAL Requests

18+:

Our restaurant caters to adults only, 18 years and older. If your 16+ foodie would like to join you on this fine dining experience please contact us, we might make an exception!

Vegan/Vegetarian: 

We respect all the choices people make, not just in food, but in general. Since Albert cooks alone, we cannot offer you a full vegan or vegetarian menu at this stage.

Restrictions/Allergies: 

Please ensure to inform us in advance. We will always try to honor most allergies. We encourage picky eaters to be a little adventurous. Unfortunately we are currently not able to accommodate dairy free or lactose free menus.

Dress code: 

Elegantly casual and comfortable. 

Conduct:

We are a small and intimate restaurant. Please understand guests arriving intoxicated will not be served.

Reservations

Reservations are required at KOAL Restaurant. We, unfortunately, do not accept walk-ins.

Parties of 7 or more guests can request/book a reservation by sending us an email: info@koalrestaurant.com

If you do not receive an automatic reply within minutes please check your JUNK/SPAM folder. We do not ask for your Credit Card information or an upfront payment. We do however need you to confirm your reservation with us at least 24 hours in advance or your reservation will be canceled.

Please do us the courtesy of cancelling your reservation if for whatever reason you won’t be able to make it.
